This Chardonnay has a full, broad nose of refreshing and bright aromas of ripe yellow stone fruits and citrus fruits along with an edge of creamy and nutty barrel-ferment and spicy oak notes, subtle lemon-curd and buttery notes. The palate has flavours of citrus fruits melded with creamy barrel-ferment and nutty, spicy oak.

The mouthfeel is enriched by integrated layers of lemon-curd and buttery nuances. The palate has an underlying freshness with acid poise, and the wine flows along a fine-textured line with creamy nutty notes leading to a sustained finish with toasty oak.

Ask wine fans in New Zealand what Tony Bish is known for and they’ll say
one thing: Chardonnay. As the only specialist of the grape in
Australasia, he knows it inside-out. Tony uses a range of innovations to
explore its many different expressions – employing everything from
concrete egg fermenters to French oak. New Zealand has shown itself to
be prime territory for single-varietal wines, as the soil types and
maritime climate with large diurnal shifts result in great intensity and
vibrancy. This wine hails from Hawke’s Bay, in the east of the North
Island, from vineyards embracing regenerative farming methods and
minimal intervention.
