Legend tells in Armagnac, that the Baron of
Sigognac one day had the traditional clocks removed from all his
cellars. Passionate about the mystery of the aging of Armagnac, he built
very unique watches. In these watches each dial had ten divisions
instead of twelve. The seconds had become years, the big hand only moved
every decade, while the small hand of the hours counted the
centuries... The Legend also tells that in time the Baron no longer
listened to the clocks, but only his palate, to know the age of the
Armagnacs. And no one charged the clocks anymore. The Baron of Sigognac
became the memory of the Armagnacs. The Armagnac Baron de Sigognac is
the result of the momentum and passion that have animated The Soul of
Gascony for centuries, of which the valiant Musketeer d'artagnan is the
most emblematic representative. The Guasch family has dedicated its
Ugny-Blanc and Bacchus vineyards exclusively to the production of Bas
Armagnac. Every year after the harvest and immediately after the
vinification, the head cantiniere carries out the distillation with his
centuries-old still. Pure natural white wine, fine yeasts in suspension,
early distillation: from these moments and during the long years, the
chief winery watches over the Bas Armagnac that will be born and will
patiently follow the evolution of its aromas during the aging in oak
barrels.
