Chateau des Crès Ricards lies on a 28 hectare vineyard in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac area of the Coteaux du Languedoc. Situated to the north west of Montpellier, the Terrasses du Larzac vineyards are heavily influenced by the cool air from the high Larzac plateau, symbolized by Mount Baudile
which peaks at 850m (2800ft).

Oenothera is produced from a single vineyard and is a blend of Syrah and Grenache. These boast a vine age of 34 years for Syrah and 47 years for Grenache. The vines grow on red soil terraces which are covered with
pebbles and slates. This amazing terroir therefore creates a fine and rich wine.

Winemakers vinify up to 20% of the Syrah under carbonic maceration. All the different varietals will then go through malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels (new and up to three-year-old barrels). This then allows the wine to develop a complex, layered bouquet.

a lovely wine, a lot of sediment, needs careful decanting.
